William Louis Otte (1871-1957)
| click image to enlarge | Landscape painter, pastelist. Born in Sheboygan, WI on Dec. 6, 1871. Otte was a successful stockbroker in NYC. In his leisure he studied at the New York School of Art, Independent School of Art, and with Robert Henri. In 1913 he retired from the stock market to devote his life to art. He then moved to Santa Barbara, CA into a studio-home at 1300 Los Albertos Road. He died there on Feb. 5, 1957. An Impressionist, he used small, feathery brush strokes and a colorful palette to create landscapes of the desert and area around his home. Member: Santa Barbara AA.
