Ross Dickinson was a painter and muralist born in Santa Ana, California on April 19, 1903. Dickinson began his art studies at the Chouinard School and continued in New York City at the National Academy of Design under Hawthorne and at the Grand Central School under Costigan and Ennis. He also studied with Frank M. Fletcher at the Santa Barbara School of Fine Arts and taught there during 1928-30. He then taught life drawing at the Art Center School in Los Angeles for 21 years. He was also awarded residency at Louis B. Tiffany Foundation on Long Island. Dickinson died in La Jolla on February 7, 1978.
Dickinson painted murals at the Santa Barbara School of the Arts Theater; San Pedro, Cailfornia, High School; and George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Thomas Starr King High Schools in Los Angeles.
Dickinson has been published in Southern California Artists; American Art Annual; 1933; Who's Who in American Art 1936-62.
