Robert Ortlieb began his career in sculpture at the University of Southern California as the protegee of famed sculptor Merrill Gage. Since completing his B.F.A. and M.F.A. degrees, Ortlieb's sculptures in stone, bronze, plexiglass, rare woods, and terra cotta have been exhibited in more than one-hundred museums and galleries here and abroad, and have won countless awards.
Listed in "Who's Who in American Art" and "Who's Who in America", Ortlieb has delighted art lovers throughout Southern California with his always provocative lecture demonstrations. He has also garnered a devoted following among students at diverse venues including the U.S.C. at Idyllwild Arts Foundation, Loma Linda University, Palos Verdes Community Arts Foundation, Riverside Art Center and Museum, Palm Springs Village Center for the Arts, and the Institute Professionale de Stato per l'Industria de l'Artigianato del Marmo in Carrara, Italy.
