Jean Negulesco
(1900-1993)

Jean Negulesco was a painter born in Craiova, Romania on February 29, 1900. Negulesco came to the States in 1927 and lived in New York and Washington, DC before moving to Seattle. By the late 1920s he had settled in Hollywood, California. During the Depression he appears to have abandoned painting in favor of film directing. His directing credits include such films as "Johnny Belinda" and "Three Coins in a Fountain". Upon retirement in the late 1960s, Negulesco settled in the Mediterranan coastal town of Marbella, Spain where he remained until his death on July 18, 1993.
