Charles Paul Gruppe
(1860-1940)
Charles Paul Gruppe, painter, was born September 3, 1860 in Picton, Ontario and was based in New York City and East Gloucester, Massachusetts. Largely self-taught, Gruppe did study in Holland and a good portion of his work consists of Holland inspired scenes. He is not to be confused with his son, painter Emil Albert Gruppe. He died on September 30, 1940 in Rockport, Massachusettes.
