Arthur Merton Hazard, a painter, was born in North Bridgewater, Massachusetts on October 20, 1872. Hazard studied art with Frank Duveneck in Cincinnati and in Paris with Prinet and Henri Blanc. He spent most of his career in Boston, but moved to Los Angeles for health reasons in 1923. His works include portraits, desert flower studies, and landscapes. Hazard painted several portraits of prominent LA residents. He exhibited locally. Hazard died on December 26, 1930 while vacationing in France.
