Otto Henry Schneider

Otto Henry Schneider was a landscape and figure painter born in Muscatine, Iowa born on August 8, 1865. At age 15, Schneider became a pupil of Vanderpoel and Grover at the Art Institute of Chicago. Moving to Buffalo, New York, he continued his studies at the local Art Students League and at the Art Students League in New York City followed by work in Paris at Academie Julian (1910). Schneider traveled extensively and taught at the Buffalo Art Students League for two years before moving to San Diego in 1923. In that year he joined staff at the San Diego Academy of Fine Arts and taught there until his death on January 23, 1950.
Member: Association of Artists of San Diego, 1929 (co-founder); Contemporary Artists of San Diego.
Exhibited: Paris Salon, 1911; California State Fair, 1930; Oakland Museum, 1939.
Awards: Fellowship Prize, Buffalo Society of Artists 1912, 1917, Honorable Mention, 1922; Honorable Mention, Southern California Artists, 1931.
Works held: San Diego Museum.
